For those who see a wine glass not just as a vessel, but as a piece to be displayed — the Aetheron turns glasses into a floating gesture of form and balance.

The Aetheron is a single continuous ribbon of white oak, coaxed through a specially processed lumber technique into a rising spiral that appears to defy the rigidity of the wood it came from. Hand-fitted collars cradle wine glasses by the stem, suspending them in space along the twist — a quiet piece of kinetic sculpture that happens to hold your Cabernet.

Each Aetheron is shaped, dried, and finished individually in a small artisan workshop. No two pieces bend identically; the grain and the twist are unrepeatable, which is part of the point.

Details

  • Freestanding helical form in solid white oak, holds wine glasses by the stem
  • Circular kiln-dried white oak base for stability
  • Hand-sanded and finished with a durable hard-wax oil that protects the grain without masking it
  • Approximately 36" to 43" tall
  • Each piece is individually formed — natural variation in grain and curve is expected and part of its character

Materials & Process

The helix is shaped from specially processed white oak, engineered to handle the extreme bending required to form its spiral. After forming, each piece undergoes a controlled drying period before it's trimmed, sanded, and finished by hand. Because the process can't be rushed, production takes several weeks per piece.

A striking centerpiece for a tasting room, bar, or wine cellar — and a natural companion to the Apeiron for anyone building a full display collection.

Materials & Finishes

The Apeiron is built from premium lumber and refined with carefully selected finishing products. Together, these materials demand precise, time‑intensive methods to achieve the level of craftsmanship expected of a premium piece.

Lumber

The lumber used in the Apeiron is sourced from two trusted suppliers to ensure the exacting quality and characteristics demanded by its craftsmanship. Only boards that meet NHLA (National Hardwood Lumber Association) highest grade FAS, are selected to make the base. This ensures wide, defect-free clear boards are used.

Circular Base

The base of the Apeiron uses kiln dried white oak which is locally sourced from a family run lumber store.

Helices

The helices of the Apeiron use white oak sourced from the only supplier in the United States that produces wood for extreme wood bending.

To ensure the stability of the double helix design, each helix undergoes a controlled drying process to reach a target moisture content before being reacclimated to its environment. The duration of this step varies depending on several factors, but because it is critical to the integrity of the final piece, the process is never rushed—whatever time is required will be taken.

Finish

Rubio Monocoat Wood Cleaner is used prior to the application of finish to the Apeiron. This ensures the surface is completely free of dust, natural oils, and handling residues while opening the wood pores. Proper cleaning is especially important — it prevents uneven absorption, enhances color depth, and guarantees the finish cures uniformly for long‑term stability and elegance.

Rubio Monocoat Oil Plus 2C Pure is a premium, eco‑friendly, VOC‑free finish that enhances the natural elegance of wood while providing long‑lasting protection. Engineered to bond at the molecular level with the wood fibers, it delivers a single‑coat application that preserves the sculptural clarity of tight radius bends without masking the grain. Once applied it will take 5-7 days to fully cure.

Finally, Rubio Monocoat SheenPlus is applied to create a smooth, understated semi‑gloss finish, enhancing the depth of the grain while keeping the wood itself front and center.
